The Health Benefits of Turmeric
What are the health benefits of turmeric?
There's been a lot of excitement in the media recently about popular yellow spice, Turmeric - (curcumin). Turmeric has been used for its spicy properties in cooking and its medicinal qualities for thousands of years. Turmeric comes the root of the Turmeric plant and is part of the broader ginger family.
A 2013 report indicated that Curcumin can reduce inflamation and swelling in the body by blocking the proteins that are the cause inflammation..
Curcumin is the main ingedient in Turmeric and simply put, can reduce wear and tear in your joints. It's more than a spicy flavoring! A study undertaken in 2016 for the Journal of Medicinal Food showed several positive benefits of curcumin in easing the symptoms of arthritis and allowing for increased mobility of the joints.
Most studies of course tend to look at quite high intakes of Curcuminoids, but lower amounts too, can offer benefits.

AROMATHERAPY
During an AROMATHERAPY session, the essential oils used are absorbed through the skin or inhaled during the massage treatment. The oils can offer a variety healing properties, these include relieving tension, mitigating stress and anxiety and improved sleep. Each of the oils offers beneficial qualities, we blend the essential oils with a carrier oil, often sweet almond* (we are aware of nut allergies and this may not always be suitable.) Similar oils are used in Swedish massage.
